Credited as being arguably the most beneficial medicinal plant that nature has ever provided us, the benefits of aloe vera go far beyond great looking skin. It also offers an entire list of amazing healing qualities ranging from reducing arthritic pain, to lowering high cholesterol, to healing intestinal and digestive ailments to name a few.
Aloe is both soothing and hydrating, which explains why it is usually recommended for healing burns and minor wounds. It subtly increases blood circulation around the affected area, and its anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties gradually speed up the healing process.
Often overlooked is the fact that aloe is edible too. As fresh aloe vera is more or less flavourless, it is the perfect ingredient to be included in juices, salads, or even served lightly poached with a little sugar and lime.
