Tomato is a main winter vegetable in Hong Kong, farmers begin to grow as early as Aug every year and hoping that it can be harvested in early Nov. However, just one or two farms can harvest a small amount of tomato in Jan. Many farms said that the weather last year is abnormal and many tomatoes died in the seeding stage in their land. According to Thomas, a local organic farmer, said that the rainfall in last Sept was too high. He said the soil was too wet and it caused crop death, especially the cherry tomato he had planted for just a few weeks.

If we want to buy local tomato and assorted color of cherry tomato, be patient to wait for one or two weeks.
